When I Grow Up

When I grow up, when I get big,
and I'm old enough to choose,
I shall wear purple whenever I please,
and little silver bells on the toes of my shoes,
thats what I'll do when I grow up.

When I grow up and my life is my own
and I need not answer to kith nor to kin,
I shall eat with my fingers and learn how to
spit, and wear a red hat tied under my chin,
when I grow up.

When I grow up, when I earn my wings
and I'm brave enough to fly,
I shall chase rainbows and always
wear purple, and never use the word goodbye,
When I grow up.

When I grow up, and it's all up to me,
and it's time to get on with the show,
dressed in purple and red, silver bells
all a jingle, pray tell me how will I know,
when I grow up?
